Roboboat 2021

International Roboboat Competition Conducted Online

About International RoboBoat Competition

roboboat

RoboBoat or International RoboBoat Competition (IRC) is a competition that invites participants to tackle simplified versions of challenges facing the modern maritime industry.

Barunastra ITS has started participating in this competition since 2016 and this year, the competition is a little different because it is held online.

This design is an update from the previous version, Nala G4.

ASV Dimension

At this year's International Roboboat Competition (online edition), apart from updating electronics and algorithm, we adopted a new type of hull.

With a length of 1 meter and a width of 0.5 meters, the SWATH (Small-Airplane-Area Twin) hull that we propose is expected to help increase the stability of the ASV while approaching the missions.

Planning & Strategy

At this stage, all team members gather online to discuss plans for the 2021 IRC competition, both from a technical and non-technical side.

Apart from that, we also discussed the evaluation results of the previous competitions. This activity is very crucial in order to unify the views of all team members regarding what strategies will be carried out in a pandemic like now

hull design

Hull Design & Simulation - MEC

After the overall planning has been agreed upon, the mechanical team will immediately underline the details of the problems that were found from the previous years in terms of the hull of the ship.

From this evaluation, we finally decided to use a SWATH (Small-waterplane-area twin hull) type hull to improve the stability aspect in order to improve the sensor reading capability.

programmer

Electronic & Programming System Design - EPR

Along with the construction of the hull, the overall electrical circuit design also began to be designed. more modular?

Apart from that, various other non-physical developments were also carried out, including: software architecture, GUI, object detection algorithm, etc. Of course, we also do system simulations, one of which is using the Gazebo software.

Mechanic

TDR Writing & Video Production - NTC

After the outline of the MEC (mechanic) and EPR (Electro-programming) divisions was completed, the non-technical team began compiling it into a single paper. The biggest challenge is how to unify technical and non-technical matters so that the paper is written both in written style and in technical explanation

Furthermore, from the outline, video skills began to be produced.

meeting

Scheduled Meeting & Progress Control

In working on our individual sections, we used a scheduled meeting agenda as a way to control overall progress. In this forum, there are discussions about the obstacles found, brainstorming, problem solving, as well as a place to unwind.

For the non-technical division itself, in addition to meetings, project tracker software such as Trello is also used.
