About International RoboBoat Competition

RoboBoat is an international student competition. Teams from around the world design autonomous, robotic boats to navigate through a challenge course. Aside from demonstrating some impressive maritime manueverability, these student-built boats are designed to tackle tasks that mimic real-world challenges facing the maritime industry. These challenges include coastal surveillance, port security and other types of oceanographic operations.

Proteus 2.0

Nala Proteus 2.0

Nala Proteus 2.0 is an autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) concept designed and developed by the Barunastra ITS Team, a robotic team from the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya, Indonesia. Nala Proteus 2.0 is the latest roboboat created by the team in last year 2023.

Nala Proteus 2.0 features a fiberglass hull with an embossed design that increases the distance between the water and the electrical components, improving its stability and safety. The roboboat also has a new propulsion system that provides greater thrust and torque, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 5 knots.

Modularity 3.0

The Nala Proteus 2.0 is equipped with various sensors and cameras that enable it to perform eight missions autonomously, such as navigating through buoys, docking, obstacle avoidance, water blasting, and acoustic pinger localization. The roboboat also has a sophisticated software system that integrates artificial intelligence, computer vision, and machine learning algorithms to process the data and control the roboboat’s movements.
